Maurice Lacroix Expands the Aikon Automatic Collection with Rubber Straps and Green Dial

Since the market for sporty-chic watches with integrated bracelets/straps is the hottest of the industry, we’ve seen many brands in past years embracing the concept. In 2016 already, it was Maurice Lacroix‘s turn to introduce its Aikon collection, first with quartz movements and in 2018, with automatic calibres. Since then, there have been multiple iterations, and the brand has listened closely to its customers’ expectations. And in this instance, the brand now enlarges its accessible luxury sports watch range with rubber straps and new dials for the Aikon Automatic 39mm and 42mm.

The Aikon by Maurice Lacroix has become quite an impressive collection comprising time-and-date watches, chronographs, a skeleton chronograph, a sportier model, the Venturer, available also with a GMT function, or even more complex models with an in-house movement or a very intriguing display. And that’s without counting the different sizes available, ranging from 35mm to 44mm. But it seems that the brand still had some ideas for its sports watch, as it now launches new models.

While we were not able to photograph all the watches available as part of the 2021 collection, here’s an overview of what you can soon expect to see in stores. First of all, in addition to the existing integrated leather straps and metallic bracelets available on the entire collection, the classic Aikon Automatic time-and-date watches can now be fitted with an integrated and textured rubber strap. Closed by a pin buckle, it benefits from the brand’s clever Easy Strap Exchange, so you’ll be able to swap between all the options without the need for a tool. These will be available for the 39 and 42mm references, also as an accessory for current owners.

The rubber strap is cleverly integrated into the design of the Aikon Automatic with its Clous de Paris pattern, replicating the decoration on the dial and two recessed channels that integrate seamlessly with the case and the lugs. These rubber straps are made from FKM rubber, which offers greater wear-resistance, superior flexibility, and the colour is less susceptible to fading.

The 2021 Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic collection also integrates new dial options. For instance, there’s a new dark grey dial available on both the 39 and 42mm. This new dial is available as a “strap kit” with a metal bracelet and a spare rubber/leather option or with just one of the options.

In addition to this new colour, the 39mm model is also available with a green dial, first seen on the 42mm version. Likewise, the rosé dial that proved very popular with the 39mm case is now offered on the larger 42mm model.
